Unexpected Surprises

About a month ago we had unexpected visitors.  By unexpected, I don't mean they just showed up on our doorstep.  We had agreed to host a bunch of moms and sons that were participating in a local homeschool debate.  I kicked my boys out of their basement rooms and relocated them to upstairs rooms.  The unexpected part was that due to illness I had 3 moms come to stay at my house instead of just one.

What a blessing those ladies were.  They stayed for four nights and only required bed and bath.  Ya can't get much easier than that.  I immediately connected with all three ladies.  They were so sweet and I'm amazed how quickly we could relate to each other.  We had a really neat connection. They live 5 hours away. Sob.

Yesterday, I saw our postal worker (so politically correct, I know!) drive down our driveway. When they drive down the driveway to the front door, you know you're getting a package that didn't fit in the mailbox.

I was curious. It was a small square box addressed to me.  I don't get a lot of packages.

With delight I realized it was from my new friend that I met a month ago.

Backing up to when they were at our house...Elizabeth is a gardener.  She has a knack for gardening and tapping her trees for maple syrup.  Her husband was busy emptying buckets while she was staying at my house and they were planning to boil the syrup down and can the syrup after she returned home. She has a wonderful informative website on cultivated food.

I was SO excited to open the package.

Thank you Elizabeth!

We are having blueberry pancakes this morning with homemade maple syrup. Wow.

Thankful for generous friends,
The Lunch Lady
